Chapter 736 The Wife Behaves Strangely Around Us
- "I know, but that is the only solution we have." Nicole gave Carl a fixed glance. "Okay, how about you separate and distract them while I go after the alpha?" Carl recommended, not wanting Nicole to take a chance. "Don't underestimate them when you begin leading them away," she said. "They move quickly. After they've chased you, you have to scale the closest tree you can locate. If not, they'll merely use you as their next food". All right. Simply follow my instructions. You'll flee to the grove when I count down to three." Carl mounted his steed, while Nicole grabbed up her light and rode Pinto. "Are you ready?" Nicole yelled.
- "Yes!" "One, two, three. "Go!" A number of the pack members pursued and hunted Carl when he dashed off to the grove. Nicole headed straight for the alpha while everything was going on, and it then bared its teeth, prepared to leap. She waved her torch at the remaining wolves to hold them at bay as they raced forward. She did this repeatedly until she was 10 yards or so from the alpha, at which point she removed her knife, and with a quick, piercing move, she stabbed the beast to death. The remainder of the group scattered, howling and yelping at this.
- After doing that, she grabbed her dagger and rode off to the grove where Carl disappeared. His horse had run away in terror, and Carl was hanging from a limb on top of a tree. Now that the alpha had been killed and the pack dispersed, he could safely descend. "Carl, where are you?!" Nicole yelled. Carl said, "I'm up here," from above. "There are no more wolves!
