Chapter 69
- Hector's POV
- After Gisselle's funeral, Maliyla locked herself in the room. It didn't seem like anything I said made a difference. In an attempt to get her to talk, I asked Katia for help, but even she was unable to make any progress. Maliyla's grief seemed all-consuming and impenetrable, leaving me feeling helpless and frustrated. Her withdrawal from the world emphasized that the pain of losing Gisselle was too overwhelming for her to bear, and my efforts to comfort her felt futile.
