Chapter 60

• Maliyla's POV
• I was roused from sleep by the sound of birds chirping. I awoke to find Hector still holding me in his arms, just as when we went to sleep. Looking at the alarm clock on the nightstand, I noticed that it was 5:00 AM. Looking up, I saw Hector still asleep. The sound of his heart beating accompanied me as I lay my head on his chest and closed my eyes. A smile spread across my face as I recalled the first time I woke up in his arms.
• Taking Hector's arm around my waist, I climbed out of bed and headed to the bathroom. In order to clear my mind, I quickly freshened up and put on my gym clothes. As I grabbed my bag by the door, I glanced at Hector one last time before leaving. There was a pressing need within me to get out and move. After walking downstairs and out the back door, I went directly to the forest on the other side of the pack-house. With my headphones synced up to my phone and turned up the music, as I turned up the music, I heard the soft melody of Nuke'em by Datsik. Taking off running as the bass dropped, I felt some sense of aliveness as the cold air hit my face.
