Chapter 148 Answer

  • "I have something important to tell you", Alex said as they both lay in bed. Juliet tilted her head to look at her. Her eyes filled with curiosity, and her heart raced. Did he finally find her father? A part of her feared to hear what he had to say... Alex turned so he could face Juliet. "I found your father", he said, and Juliet's heart dropped; for a moment, she stared at him, completely frozen, unsure of how to react or what to say, even though she had dozens of questions she wanted to ask... where had he been all these years? Did he even try looking for her? Or didn't he want anything to do with her? She had so many questions to ask him. "Where has he been all these years?" Juliet asked in a low voice, and Alex took her hand in his. "He has been in jail", He answered, and Juliet felt her heart drop even further. Was that why he couldn't see her?
  • Alex went on to tell Juliet everything about where he had gone and what her father had told him about his relationship with Her mother. She said nothing and listened to him without interrupting. Her heart felt heavy, and she had to blink back the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes. "He came to see me" " he muttered; why didn't he approach her. she had spent her entire life being curious about a man she barely had memories of... if only he had approached her and said something to her... if only he had... Juliet got up from the bed and walked straight into the bathroom. Alex got up from the bed and stood outside the bathroom door... "Are you alright?" he asked but got no answer. He was about to open the door to check how she was when she finally responded "I'm fine...I just need a minute" She said to him and Alex's hand dropped from the doorknob... juliet stared at herself in the bathroom mirror... her eyes were brimming with tears and she opened the tap and splashed water on her face... she gave her head a little shake... her mother had been in touch with her father, but hadn't said a thing to her... it made her heart ache when she remembers the times her mother would tell her she was going out of town for a party, but would only give her a vague reply when she asked who was having a party... Juliet hadn't read much into it and only thought her mother wanted some time alone to herself, but now that she thought about it, she should have been more attentive back than... she stood there for a few more minutes thinking back to the past, trying to think about if she had ever seen him anywhere, but she couldn't remember... she splashed some more water on her face and then turned the tap off and took in multiple deep breaths to calm herself. She knew she had to be calm and listen to what Alex had to say... she shouldn't get mad, she just had to be calm...
  • "I want to see him" Juliet said when she walked out of the bathroom... "Are you sure?" Alex asked, and she nodded. She didn't want to avoid her past any longer. She wanted to face it... Juliet walked into Alex's arms and gave him a warm hug... "Thank you", She muttered; she knew Alex was looking out for her. That was why he had gone to see her father first... she loved him so much and was grateful for how much he cared for her... "I just want you to be okay," Alex said and planted a kiss on her hair. "What kind of person is he?" Juliet asked as she laid her head on Alex's chest... she was curious about him... "to be honest I'm not sure" Alex responded. he could tell her that Gerald had looked genuine but one never really knew everyone... it was better if she met him one on one and she could decide herself what kind of person she thought he was... "Do you think we should let Gladys know about everything?" Juliet asked and broke the hug, and Alex sighed deeply. That was what made him worried. He didn't want to startle Gladys by telling her her son was behind bars yet again. She didn't deserve such awful news when she had spent so long looking for him and waiting to be reunited with her son... "I don't think we should at the moment, I think you should meet with him first, then after you can decide that," Alex said and Juliet nodded in agreement... she was nervous and at the same time she wanted to meet her father... she wanted to meet him and ask him the question she had wanted an answer to since she was a child... why hadn't he reached out for so long. even though he and her mother had decided that what about her... why didn't they consider her feelings. Didn't they think that she would need her father... she didn't know what he had been through and what had led him into a life that involved crime so she couldn't be a judge...what she was mad about was the fact that they both hide so many things from her because she was little... what if she had never found the letter her mother had left her. What would have happened then? She would have never known her grandmother existed and would have carried on with her life even though a part of her life would have been left empty... so many secrets, and in the end, it still came to light...
