Chapter 135 High School Sweethearts

  • "Your mother," She muttered, and juliet nodded. for a short moment, silence reigned between the three of them as they let her recover from her dazed state... "Please come in," She said in a low voice and made way for them to enter her house... juliet and Alex were a bit surprised at the turn the woman had taken. a moment ago, she had been rude to them, but now she acted calm. Alex took juliet hand in his and intertwined it as they walked into the woman's house... the house looked very neat but old as they walked in. it made juliet wonder how long she had been living there. Also, did she live alone? who was she ? she wanted to know. "Are you sure she is your mother?" the woman asked after she closed the door and walked to their front. her eyes were filled with curiosity and uncertainty as she stared at juliet. "Yes, she is. she gave me this address, " Juliet said, and the woman sighed deeply. "Why didn't she come with you then. I need to speak with her. after all this years and she decides to show up just now" She said in a low voice and juliet had to break the news to her "She passed away a few months ago" Juliet's said and watched as the old woman's eyes grew completely wide in shock. "What! what do you mean she passed away!" she exclaimed, shaking her head in disbelief, and she started to stumble a bit from the shock, her hand travelling to her head because of how lightheaded she felt. Alex didn't waste a single second and immediately rushed to her side to support her... he led her to the living room, juliet following behind then and her eyes filled with worry... Alex made her sit on the couch. "Are you alright ma'am?" He asked, and she nodded. "I'm Gladys," She said, and the couple exchanged looks. "I can't believe this..." Gladys said and turned to look at juliet, who was now standing beside her. "Did she say anything to you about Gerald?" Gladys asked and juliet was completely confused because she had no idea who she was talking about. "Gerald," She said, and the Gladys sighed deeply once again. "Yes, Gerald, your father. he has to be. They loved each other so much and left together. I thought he would be with her now. where is your father? "
  • Juliet, who had no idea what Gladys was saying, just stood there looking completely confused. she didn't know the answer to give and wasn't even sure if this Gerald of person was really her father... It made juliet realise that she really knew nothing about her mother. she had simply not asked, and her mother had never even talked about it. they had just both lived every day as it came, and then one day, her mother had passed out while they were grocery shopping, and then at the hospital, they told her she only had a few months left. everything happened so fast that sometimes it still felt surreal to her. it made her regret not being curious. juliet took a seat beside Gladys and said, "Could you tell me more about Gerald?" Gladys turned to look at juliet and sighed deeply. "He is my son, and I haven't seen him for over twenty years."
  • Her guess had been right. her mother had given her the address so she could find her grandmother. juliet had had her suspicions as soon as Gladys opened her front door... but she didn't want to jump into any kind of conclusion... she ran her hand through her hair as she let this new information sink into her... why did her mother keep her away from her grandmother for so long. she had so many questions that needed answers. "I don't know what is going on. this is really confusing. my mother left your address for me to find and I only found it after she passed. I don't know about who my father is, " Juliet said, and Gladys eyes started to brim with tears. she tried to get up, and Alex helped her. "Thank you, take a seat dear I will be right back," She said and walked towards the side of the house. Alex took a seat beside juliet, and she turned to look at him. "Do you really think she is my grandmother. why did my mother not tell me anything about her. why did she keep so much from me. I have so many questions for her, but I can't even ask her any." She said, and before Alex could say any soothing words to calm her down, Gladys came back into the room... She was holding a box as she walked towards them, and Alex stood up and helped her. "Thank you," She said to him as she took a seat. "I kept this for so long, I'm not sure why, but I'm glad I did. I had no idea this day would ever come, " Gladys said and handed to Box to juliet, who was a bit hesitant as she took it from her newfound grandmother... she slowly opened the box and saw that it was filled with so many different envelopes that had the address written on it, they were letter. so many letters... "They were inseparable," Gladys started as juliet reached into the box and started to pick up the envelope.... there was a picture also and it was a picture of her mother, she looked so young, probably in her late teens or early twenties. she had the most beautiful smile on her face, and next to her was a man. the man was staring at her mother with so much love in his eyes, and just by staring at the picture alone, she could tell that he cared for her. "That is Gerald, and this was taken a few months after they both graduated from high school," Gladys said. A sad smile appeared on her face...
