Chapter 72

• Mia stopped her car abruptly when she saw Diane walk into a convenience store. She thought it was the perfect opportunity to get closer to her. Quickly, she exited the car and entered the store, pretending to browse the aisles as Diane picked up a few pads and proceeded to the checkout counter. Mia watched as Diane paid, noting her striking resemblance to Jordan. Her heart melted as she wondered if that was what Jordan would have looked like if he were still alive.
• As Diane walked past her, Mia pretended to be engrossed in browsing. Clearing her throat to attract Diane's attention, she said, "Hmm, it's you," feigning surprise. "What are you doing here?"
• Diane immediately recognized her. "Hello," she said. "I just came to get some pads."
