Chapter 29

• Chase descended the stairs, ready to go to work. He walked out of the house and headed towards his car as he noticed the unusual silence without Charlotte's usual chatter in his ear.
• "Has Mia... my wife left yet?" he asked one of the maids.
• "No sir, she hasn't been seen this morning," she replied. Chase nodded, opened the car door to get in, but the image from last night flooded his mind. He remembered Charlotte collapsing into his arms, sweating profusely. He had carried her to her room and called a doctor to check on her, but he felt uneasy as she was now worried. He closed his car door and walked back into the house.
