Chapter 121

• Charlotte sped down the highway, her heart racing with every passing mile. She couldn't shake off the feeling of betrayal and anger that had been building up inside her since she left her parents' house. As she pulled over to the side of the road, her breaths came in short, rapid gasps. She couldn't believe what she had just learned - that her parents had sold one of their own children. The thought made her hands shake with rage as she reached for her phone and dialed Chase's number.
• "Chase," she said, her voice trembling as she struggled to hold back tears. "It's... my parents. I need you." She couldn't finish the sentence, her emotions overwhelming her.
• "Are you okay?" Chase asked, his voice laced with worry. "Why do you sound like that?" he pressed, but Charlotte couldn't respond. The world around her seemed to be spinning, and Chase's words became inaudible. "I'm going to come to you," was the last thing she heard him say before she rested her head against the steering wheel, feeling like her world was crashing down around her.
