Chapter 117
- Liam trudged into his apartment, his spirit crushed, and his body heavy with grief. He tried to hide his emotions, but it was no use; he collapsed onto the floor beside his couch, his chest heaving as he sobbed uncontrollably. He cried for his father, who had left this world too soon. He cried for the fact that his father wouldn't get to see him get married, have children, and grow old together. But, to his own dismay, he also cried for Mia - the woman who had taken his father's life. He hated himself for still having feelings for her, for still wanting to hold her in his arms despite her heinous crime.
- As he lay there, his heart shattering into a million pieces with each passing second, his phone buzzed, piercing the silence. He hesitated, then reached into his pocket and retrieved it. Catherine's name flashed on the screen, and he hesitated again before answering.
- "Hey, Cat," he said, trying to sound stronger than he felt.
