Chapter 23

• Charlotte got ready for work that morning, despite feeling it would be better to stay at home. She knew she couldn't wallow in sadness all day. As she left her room, she saw Chase descending the stairs in a sleek black suit. He paused to look at her, then continued walking out, with Charlotte trailing behind.
• “What do you think you are doing?” he asked as Charlotte attempted to get into the car.
• “What?” she responded, stepping back. “We are going to work, aren't we?” she asked.
