Chapter 65
- Ken woke up and looked around, but Cynthia wasn't there. His chest tightened with worry. His eyes darted across the room, then down at his legs, motionless, useless. He wished he could walk, just once, to find her.
- He spotted a phone on the other side of the table. Cynthia had once told him it was his, but he'd never bothered to go through it. Now desperate to reach her, he stretched toward it. She's my wife, he reasoned. Her number must be there.
- As he strained his hand toward the phone, the door opened.
