Chapter 64
- Ken had been dressed by Cynthia, who was now feeding him. He now felt comfortable with her, no longer pulling away. She had been the only one he saw every day since he regained consciousness. He had wondered about his family and everything Cynthia had told him, his parents being very influential and rich, but still, he felt unloved. The man who described himself as his father hadn't visited since learning he had lost his memory. What about his brother and mother? Didn't he have friends? The only person who had come to visit was Thomas, but he hadn't shown up lately.
- He sat quietly as he watched Cynthia massaging his legs. The feeling of her hands on his skin felt so familiar and comforting. He looked at her as she gently massaged him. He knew most of the stories she told him weren't true. It was obvious he wasn't loved by his family, even though she made excuses that they were busy with work, trying to erase the scandal caused by a strange woman. He watched her intently. He felt so at ease with her, and even though no one else was there, her presence, kindness, compassion, and honest care brought him peace. He needed to remember who he was before now and how he treated her. Was he a good husband? Did he treat her with love? He didn't believe what she told him yesterday. In most of her dealings with him, he could feel her fear—especially when he raised his voice or told her to leave him alone, those times he tried to push her away.
- "Cynthia," Ken called her name.
