Chapter 60

• After leaving Cynthia alone at the hospital with Ken, Mr. Sydney didn't go home. His head was heavy with thoughts, but duty called. The board summoned an emergency meeting, which couldn't be ignored, not after the chaos of the past few weeks.
• He arrived at the tall, glass company building ten minutes before the meeting began. The sun had dipped slightly, casting long shadows across the shiny floor as he walked into the private elevator that took him straight to the top floor, where the boardroom was.
• When he stepped into the large circular boardroom, most members were already seated around the round mahogany table. The room was filled with murmurs, scattered chatter, and soft arguments. It was loud enough to be noticeable but quiet enough that no one dared raise their voice too high.
