Chapter 127
- Cynthia sat by Ken's bedside, her head resting on the edge of his bed, completely worn out. She had dozed off while keeping watch over him. Andrew sat across the room on a couch, his laptop on his lap, but he too had drifted to sleep.
- Ken lay motionless on the bed, still connected to the drip and monitors. It had been days since he last opened his eyes. Suddenly, his fingers twitched. He struggled a little, and with slow effort, his eyes blinked open. At first, everything looked blurry—like he was staring through fog. He tried to lift his arm, but his muscles felt heavy and weak.
- He turned his head slightly and saw Cynthia's head resting near him on the bed. She looked exhausted, like someone who had been watching over him for far too long. He glanced toward the far end of the room and saw Andrew slouched on the couch.
