• The estate was booming with activity—maids hurrying from place to place, decorations being put up, and preparations underway for Mrs. Sydney's birthday. It was going to be a grand event tomorrow evening. This would be the first time Mrs. Sydney would celebrate her birthday in the estate since marrying her husband. She had usually been away on vacations and other engagements. The letters of invitation had been sent to prominent guests, including important dignitaries and even a representative from the President. She also invited every staff member from her husband's company, friends, family, and well-wishers.
• "This is going to be grand," she told her husband as she peeped through the window, watching the servants run around preparing. She was truly happy—not because of the celebration itself, but because of the scheme and purpose behind it.
