Chapter 64 Sixty Four

  • The silence between them stretched on, thick and uncomfortable. The evening air, once cool and refreshing, now felt suffocating to Serena. Her heart pounded in her chest, each beat a reminder of the awkwardness she had just plunged them both into. She could barely bring herself to glance at him. Adonis had yet to look her way, and she couldn't bring herself to meet his gaze either. Her hands were trembling slightly at her sides, and her chest felt tight as she began to second-guess everything she had said moments ago.
  • Why had she said all of that? Why now? She had already let her guard down so much. She should’ve known better. She did not only ruin the little thing that has been going on between them, she's also ruined Adonis's mood and this thoughtful event he'd planned for her.
  • "Adonis... I'm sorry." She managed to croak out, swallowing the lump in her throat. He didn't say anything and that moment, Serena knew she'd fucked up. Bad. What was she thinking? That a multi-billionaire and powerful man like him would actually give her a chance? That he would see her as more than just a contract partner?
