Chapter 31 Thirty One

  • The dark room was oppressive, the only sound the soft hum of the single light bulb that hung from the ceiling. The light was focused on a particular face, making his horrified features stand out. He was tied to a chair, his wrists and ankles bound by thick ropes.
  • His captor walked around him, his footsteps echoing off the walls. He held a small dagger in his hand, the blade glinting in the faint light. Slowly, he held it to the captured man's face, tracing the edge of the blade along his jawline, making his heart thump loudly. He had no idea how he'd gotten here. He was on his way home from the office when he'd gotten into car crash and when he woke up, his boss was behind him, a brand new looking knife in his hand.
  • "So, you're saying that Atlas bribed officials and practiced corruption?" Adonis's voice caused him to jump slightly.
