• That night, they lay in bed, Serena’s back pressed against Adonis’s chest. His strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer, and she could feel the steady rhythm of his breathing against her neck. Her heart raced in her chest, but she kept still, trying to ignore the way his touch affected her. She could tell he wasn’t asleep yet.
