Chapter 20 Twenty

• It was the incessant sounds of knocks that woke Serena up. Her eyes fluttered open as the gentle knocks came. She glanced around the opulent room, wondering where she was for a moment. Then she remembered it was Adonis's room.
• Her eyes widened as she turned to find the wide bed empty. He must have left, she thought. She then decided to answer the door. As she sat up, she felt a dull ache in the middle of her legs and faint stings on her neck. Her cheeks were also dried with tears.
• That was when memories of the previous night came rushing in. Serena flushed from her head to her toe as she recalled the euphoria she was in the previous night. She gently got out of bed and picked up the nightdress lying carelessly on the floor. Trying to walk steadily, she went to the door and opened it.
