Chapter 11 Eleven

• Serena's memories of the morning were hazy. She wasn't able to sleep because of another nightmare. So till daybreak, she sat on the bed, awake. The knock on the door had broken the spell, and she'd risen to answer it, bleary-eyed.
• The older lady from the previous day stood in the doorway, a tray of steaming food in her hands, accompanied by a younger girl carrying a bundle of clothes. The woman's instructions had been clear: "Eat and dress. The master will be arriving soon."
• Now, Serena sat on the bed, clad in a knee-length blue sundress that felt heavenly against her skin. Her hair was tied in a fairly neat bun. Still she felt so uncomfortable. She couldn't wait for this to be over.
