Chapter 56 Fifty Six

• The sounds of the sea crashing against the shore weren't very distant. Serena was asleep, her soft breath the only sound in their cabin. He couldn’t help but smile at the thought of her.
• Adonis stepped outside. He saw Giovanni standing by the edge of the cabin, his back to him.
• Adonis moved towards him. When Giovanni finally turned to face him, their eyes met. No words passed between them at first, but the silence was heavy, laden with unsaid things. Giovanni’s eyes were cold, distant. Adonis knew something wasn't right. This wasn’t the Giovanni he knew—the one who’d been by his side through thick and thin, the one he trusted above all.
