• Kai walked through the dark corridors that led to the torture room. The guards saw him and opened the heavy doors, revealing a slightly dim room. The pungent smell of blood and rotten meat greeted him. His eyes narrowed as he met with a chained Lyra. She was chained on a small platform, her face bruised and clothes torn. She looked weak as she hung on to the swinging chains.
• Kai stood in front of her without uttering a single word. He scanned her pathetic form from head to toe. Lyra's half-blurry eyes flickered fully open. A sinister smirk crept onto her face.
• “How miserable you look… Let me guess, you're here to find out where your little mate is,” Lyra hissed out disdainfully as she let out a sarcastic laugh, but Kai remained calm. “You think this little torture will scare me… as long as I'm alive, you'll never see her again!” she spat out mockingly. Kai lost his temper and grabbed her chin so hard that he tightened his grip. Lyra cried out in agony; she felt as if her chin bones would be broken into pieces. Kai's gaze was sharp and piercing as rage flashed in his eyes.
