• ​Elara’s cry lasted only for a second before several snakes embedded their sharp fangs into her soft flesh. Before the venom could even settle, someone delivered a powerful kick to her ribs, knocking her out of the pool. She landed heavily on the wet grass, the impact knocking the wind from her lungs. She whimpered, grasping at the mud, trying to push herself up, but another kick sent her tumbling across the dirty ground.
