- Elara stretched her stiff limbs as her eyes flickered open, the weight of the previous night’s secrets pressing against her chest like a physical burden. As usual, Lily was hovering over her, a tray trembling in her hands and a mask of pure terror plastered on her face.
- “What is it now…” Elara mumbled in between yawns. She sat up, blowing a few stray strands of hair from her face. Lily didn't answer immediately; she simply handed Elara a glass of water with a shaky hand and rushed to the window.
- “Well, it's trouble… I don't know how to explain this, my lady,” Lily remarked as she parted the heavy velvet curtains. The sharp morning sun peeled through the glass. Elara winced at the brightness, tying her hair into a messy bun before draining the glass in one go.
