• Elara cleared her throat as she stepped further into the room, her head bowed. Lyra slowly lifted her head to track Elara’s movement, only to wince in agony and collapse back into the Alpha's arms. Elara kept her expression blank as she approached the bed and carefully placed the soup on the side table. Alpha Fenris pried Lyra off him, and the girl sat back against the pillows, her sharp gaze fixed on Elara. Lyra scanned Elara’s limping form and battered appearance, her eyes gleaming with the satisfaction of seeing her rival miserable.
• “Nica said you should drink this while it's warm,” Elara remarked, turning to retreat, but the Alpha’s hand shot out, catching her wrist. Elara stiffened, her heart hammering against her ribs.
• “I still have work, Alpha,” she whispered, her voice cracking as she pried his fingers off. Just as Alpha Fenris reached for her again, Lyra tumbled from the bed to the floor and began to beg. The door swung open, and Nikolai marched in with Bernard and Nica at his heels.
