• I was quick to return to the hospital where my brother informed me that he couldn't find her. Lyssa had vanished. As I stormed through the sterile corridors, my heart pounded with the urgency of the situation. Lyssa was missing at the most critical juncture, when her life hung by a thread and surgery was the only chance of prolonging our time together.
• "What do you mean?" I demanded, my voice a blend of confusion and rising panic.
