• Lyssa's POV
• "What are you doing here?" a male voice questioned as my eyes fell on Alpha Garrett. Instantly, I watched as Elara, to whom the question was directed, tried to reply with a stuttering voice. "Just came to check on her," she replied, and Garrett smiled. Though the smile didn’t reach his eyes, it was obvious he forced it out as she planted a kiss on him and walked out. Garrett stepped in and shut the door. Gazing at me, he sat on the bed beside me, asking how I was feeling. Since I had lost my voice and couldn’t speak, I tried to communicate with him using sign language, but he didn’t seem to understand, so he offered me a pen and paper.
• He asked me what had happened, and I wrote down everything that had transpired. I detailed the encounter with the seer who intended to kill me and Elara’s betrayal as she also intended to harm me. I explained how the seer and Elara had fought with their powers to claim me for themselves, and how I had managed to escape their clutches, running into his chamber where I slumped, only to wake up with a voice loss.
