Chapter 158

• Dr. Carter's long shift at the hospital finally came to an end as the first light of morning began to filter through the windows of his home. Exhausted but satisfied with a successful night's work, he made his way through the familiar corridors to his front door. As he stepped inside, a sense of relief washed over him - he was finally home.
• To his surprise, Lyssa was already up and about, sitting in the cosy living room, engrossed in a TV show. She looked up as he entered, a warm smile lighting up her face. "Welcome back, Carter," she greeted him, her voice soft and friendly. Dr. Carter returned the smile and nodded in acknowledgment before heading towards his room to freshen up.
• After a quick shower and a change into comfortable nightwear, Dr. Carter emerged from his room and headed back to the living room where Lyssa was still seated, her attention still on the screen. In his hand, he carried a small polythene bag filled with an assortment of fruits he had picked up on his way home.
