Chapter 23

• As we left the hospital building, little Sarah chattered excitedly about the drawings she wished to make when we reached home. Alpha Garrett's driver opened the car door for us, and I carefully settled Sarah in the back seat before sliding in beside her. The car hummed to life as we pulled away but suddenly, I started feeling dizzy. My eyes were going blurry.
• I gazed on Sarah's face, only to see she had fallen asleep. Her head was placed on my legs, her small hands clutching her beloved teddy bear.
• I felt a liquid dripping down from my nose to my mouth as metallic taste filled my mouth, and I instinctively reached up to touch my nose, my fingers coming away stained with crimson. Panic surged within me the moment I realised the liquid dripping from my nose was my own blood. I am bleeding!
