Chapter 39 An Apology

• Oliver’s car was parked in the hotel parking lot where Nicole was staying. He didn’t immediately get out. He glanced sideways at Nicole, still sound asleep. Although he had moved her body from place to place, she hadn’t opened her eyes.
• Oliver gently stroked Nicole’s cheek, caressing it with warmth and tenderness. Moments later, he stepped out of the car, carrying Nicole in a bridal style, and entered the hotel lobby. Again, she remained asleep in his arms. She must have been utterly exhausted.
• When they reached the hotel room, Oliver laid Nicole down on the bed. Her dress was a bit dirty and needed changing—especially since it had been dampened by the drizzle earlier. Oliver decided to call a female hotel staff member to help change Nicole’s dress.
