Chapter 35 Do You Hate Me?

• Oliver gazed at Nicole, who was now fast asleep on the bed. Not much conversation had passed between them. After Oliver tended to the bruises on Nicole’s face, he stopped asking questions—especially after Nicole’s sharp remarks had silenced him.
• He cursed inwardly, feeling uncomfortable in his heart. He tried to push away all the troubling thoughts swirling in his mind. Oliver pulled the blanket over Nicole, tucking her in. Then he prepared to leave her alone.
• But just as he was about to go, his steps faltered. He couldn’t bring himself to leave Nicole by herself, especially since she was still hurt. He changed his mind and decided to stay by her side, at least until morning.
