• Oliver set his car keys and phone down on the table. He sank into the sofa in his room, leaning back and closing his eyes for a few seconds. Even now, he still couldn’t believe how ridiculous Nicole had been, getting drunk in the middle of Shania’s birthday party.
• What really tested Oliver’s patience, though, was how stubborn Nicole could be. She’d nearly been hit by a car just now, all because of that stubborn streak. If Oliver hadn’t reacted quickly, she would have been run over. Just one day with that woman was enough to put his patience to the test.
• His phone rang. Instinctively, Oliver glanced at the phone on the table. He picked it up and saw Vincent’s number on the screen. At first, he considered ignoring the call, but with all the cases he was handling, it might be important.
