Chapter 81 Collaboration
- The email's substance was brief: We are now secure. No longer search for us. Warm regards, Susan Julian gritted his teeth as he read the email. Why she had the audacity to send him such an email was beyond him. 'She departed without saying anything, and she refused to pick up my calls. Is this her way of informing me that she doesn’t want to take part in my life anymore?' The notion flashed across Julian's thoughts, and he narrowed his eyes. Without Susan, he could not picture his existence. He couldn't let her go so easily since he had worked so hard to locate her and keep her by his side.
- Julian grabbed his phone and called Seth. "Just get ready for work, work, work, work, work..." The quiet in the room was broken by the sound of a catchy tune. Susan looked at the phone resting on the table. The words "Oh, oh, it's mine, it's mine," came out of Seth's mouth. Susan stopped talking. Although she was aware of Seth's affluent background, she thought his music selection was somewhat grounded. Jacob looked at the screen and scowled just as Seth was about to grab his phone. Before Seth could touch the phone, he moved forward and took it. Then, he turned to Seth and stated, "It's Julian." Seth was taken aback.
- Jacob refused to give up his phone when he tried to retrieve it. Seth was unable to refrain from scratching his head. Then he remarked, "He'll become suspicious if I don't answer the phone. He could visit my place to see how I'm doing if he becomes suspicious. Jacob's face wrinkled up, and his lips were squeezed thin. He turned to face Seth after a long time and remarked, "But you can't tell him that we’re here." He wanted Susan to break up her friendship with the Shaws. She had endured too much pain. "Fine, fine, fine," according to Seth. Jacob didn't give the phone back to Seth until after that. After giving him a quick look, he remarked, "Put it on speaker."
