• In the end, Julian remained silent, and Susan pushed the question back into her gut. Isabelle arrived half an hour later. Susan thought she was a fool. She didn't understand why they both needed to take this drastic measure to hide their connection. When Susan recalled the image of Isabelle embracing Julian, her voice went up a whole octave. She shoved Isabelle away again in a fit of rage.
