Chapter 35

• The sound of the door being slammed made Shannon shudder. She stepped backwards and fell back to the bed, her eyes running through Georgie as he approached closer. She wanted to order him to halt, but her lips betrayed her—she didn't find her words any longer.
• Georgie walked to the sofa and got seated, resting his elbows on his thighs, “are you okay?” he asked her, trying his best to sound polite. He could tell that he had never talked to her politely since their contract marriage was initiated….and he would do that for the months remaining.
• A nod. She clutched her palms against each other. “I'm very fine! What about you? When did you return?”
