• THE NEXT MORNING
• After the servants served Odessa’s meal, Lyra left her to eat alone and leave for the day's work. She had to freshen up first, then she sat on the floor, her legs curled up as she dug into the meal.
• She savored how delicious it was and concluded that Lyra gave her such a meal to bribe her this time. Gobbling on it, she didn't even realize when the plate went empty. Her face twisted, eyes darting from one corner to the other. “Is anyone else eating this meal with me?” she muttered to herself, then looked at the plate again. “Or, did I waste it?” She lifted the plate, and there was nothing on the floor.
