Chapter 2
- Three palace guards rushed into the Beta’s office where Odessa was still standing, quivering. They got their hands on her and dragged her out of the office.
- She didn't try to fight back because hurling her away like a criminal has already become part of her life. It was still dark, and all she could see was the face of the men, but not sure where they were taking her too.
- Suddenly, she was forced to kneel. “Bow to the Lycan King!” came a hoarse masculine voice. She glanced around, trying her luck to see a thing, but she could not even sense a thing in the room except the faces of the guards and the beta that was pinned on her.
- Rolling her eyes into her head, she lowered her head gradually, “Greetings, the Lycan King.” her voice wasn't so audible, but she was sure the so-called Lycan King would hear her voice.
- She had known that in no circumstance would they refer to him as a cursed King in his presence unless they sought death, because all they knew was that he was cursed, but nothing about how and why he was cursed was written in history.
- No one also knew how long he had been living with the curse. They were all born to hear the story from the older ones, and so was the future generation.
- Her palms rested on her thighs. She didn't dare to lift her face.
- In a twinkle of an eye, the room became bright again. The sunlight of the day shone through them, but there was one corner that had darkness hovering around it.
- Odessa raised her face slightly to take a view of the people in the office. She realized it was her brothers’ office, and both the Beta and the guards were also in the office.
- The look on her brothers’ faces could tell that they were freaked out.
- “Hand over a slave!”
- They all shuddered as soon as they heard that voice. No one was seen, just darkness gathered in a corner, straight to the damaged rooftop and weaving around like a wind.
- “That's the only option to not be destroyed!” The voice came again.
- Odessa grabbed her belly, her hair rising. Was their pack finally going to be destroyed like the other packs? She had read and heard that the Lycans take in the werewolves and humans as their slaves or destroy their land.
- They don't seek permission to do a thing because they own even a dry leaf on the floor. Knowing that her species and the Lycans were still enemies before and after her birth, she could tell that life as their slave would be hell.
- What about the humans that had no single power? They would die along the way.
- Ian, the eldest brother of the twin Alphas, tilted his head high a bit after sparing his sister a glance. “You have to promise not to destroy even an ant in this pack once we hand over a slave to you.” One could tell that he was overwhelmed with fear with the tune of his voice and how it trembled.
- Odessa twisted her face. As much as she doesn't want their pack to be destroyed, she can't imagine one of their people—although they hate her—being taken to the Lycan Clan as a slave. Whoever it would be might never return alive.
- Like a heavy wind, the darkness that had formed a long rotating cylinder rushed closer to them, just in their middle.
- “If your offer is good, then you all will be unscathed until the day I return. I need a female slave who would be of use to both me and my people. You would better not hand over one that would end up dying before I reach my Clan.”
- Odessa managed to look into the darkness. She could see a person covered in a dark cloak, but his face was invisible—no part of his skin was seen. She took a hard gulp. Is the darkness part of him because of the curse? Was it even a curse alone, or is there any other thing?
- Kaz, the second twin brother of Odessa, threw his hands backwards, “To avoid such a thing from happening, we will offer our sister to you…..
- What? Odessa couldn't find her lips moving. She had a lot to say—maybe to scream at her cruel brother, but she went dumb that moment.
- “She's an Alpha Princess and is strong enough to play the role.” Kaz completed his statement and averted his gaze.
- Odessa tried to stand but couldn't. “Ian and Kaz! Isn't being your slave enough? Why should I be the one taken away?” her lips trembled, her whole body aching like it was tied to a string. “You can't do this. Take back your word!” her teeth gnashed while she glared at her brothers, but it looked like she was talking to herself.
- They were not even sparing her a glance.
- Just when she was about to force herself up, the storm of darkness was standing before her. As if that wasn't enough, it trolled around her thrice before getting back to the middle of the room.
- “Ronan!”
- They all flinched at the mention of the name. Instantly, a young Lycan, stoutly built with fierce red eyes, dashed into the office and bowed to the darkness they called their King.
- “Bring her to the Clan!”
- “Yes, my King!” Ronan responded, and the darkness flew through the roof, sending them all to the floor.
- Odessa was already fidgeting. She looked at her brothers a thousand times to meet their gaze, at least, but they seemed to not have a single remorse for what they just did to her.
- Tears welled up in her eyes, and she struggled to hold them back. A huge palm gripped her and dragged her to her feet, taking her out of the room.
- “Ian! Kaz! Please do something…..” she screamed, letting those tears gush down her cheeks.
- Ronan halted his steps and turned to her brothers, “The King has made his choice, so nothing can be done.” he uttered and continued dragging Odessa until they reached the carriage where she was forced to step in.
- She gritted her teeth. Her chest tightened, making it look like she was suffocating. She couldn't hold back the tears—even though they were too hot for her cheeks.
- “I am more like a human, yet they lied to the King that I was still an Alpha Princess when they made me a wolfless slave.” she thought, reminiscing on the day she was stripped of her royal cloth and was drawn into the dungeon, only to come out as a slave. “Ian and Kaz, I won't forgive you for this. For accusing me of our parent's deaths. For giving me out like a piece of trash into hell…
- She sniffled. The carriage was already moving, and she was seated between four soldiers with Ronan. “I hope to make it out alive there.” she concealed her face into her palms, her sobs audible to the men at her sides.
