Chapter 29

• Mum went to her room and Greg followed her. She was sad. She didn’t want me to go but she knew that she could do nothing to change my mind. Anita and I went to our room. “Steph, you mean you and Ray did all that?” she asked. “Even more” I replied. She was shocked. She didn’t know what to think of me. “Anita, I don’t mean that when you go to high school next year you sleep with your teachers. There are many you will ask you out, but you got to differentiate between love and lust. Always remember what Ray told you the other day” I told her. I told my phone and started texting Ray. He said about how he had missed being with me. The doctor had said that you needed at least one-month rest before engaging in sex. It’s now over one month, we going to enjoy ourselves tomorrow. We planned on what time Ray would meet me and wished each other good night.
• I wore a knee-length column dress. I had made it myself when I had gone to practice tailoring at mum’s shop. It was a strapless sweet heart neck dress. It had lace detail at the waistline. It was purple in color, spandex fabric. It would show my figure nicely. The back detail was lace up. I would adjust it to fit my bust appropriately. I wore it with a black short sleeved blazer. Its fabric was minky. I accessorized my clothes with a purple clutch bag and a black high heeled shoe. The clutch bag was satin fabric, with the interior covered with nylon. It had three compartments. It was a large size, favorable for banquet event. It had a silver acrylic chain at the front side. The shoe was black, with a silver lining at the middle of the heel. I looked good. I combed my hair down the shoulders and was now set to go to the world of unknown.
• Mum had made us breakfast. She served us and we ate together. She handed me some money and told me to use in case I needed something. She told me to always call on her for help and never to forget home. I told her that I would be calling her from time to time, to check on her and my siblings. Greg was remorseful. He told me sorry for how he had treated me. He offered to escort me to the bus station and Anita said that she too would not be left. Mum told us to hold hands as she led us in prayer. She prayed that God’s favor to be with me and that I would find the peace I so much longed for.
