• We bid Anita goodbye in the evening. Mum called me aside and told me that she would support me in my decision to venture into business. She also wanted to talk to me about Ray. I didn’t want to hear her talk about him. He is the man I loved and couldn’t imagine life without him. “It’s not what you think. I wanted to tell you that he seems to be a nice person. He loves you very much. I am sorry for misjudging him earlier. I hope both of you will be happy together and live as we lived with your father.” She said. I hugged her tight. Finally, she had agreed with my decision of a man. She had finally come to see the love that we shared and was there to support us. I thanked her and wished her a safe journey.
• We reached the city at night. It would be disrespectful for me to go knocking at my employer’s door at that time. I called Mama boi and informed her that I would go the next day. I would spend the night at Ray’s place. He seemed very excited by the news. He had been showing the excitement since he talked with mum. We entered the house and found that his roommates had not come home. Ray was happy and said it would be a perfect moment for us. We went to the bathroom and washed one another. We would switch between scrubbing and kissing. The water was witnessing our love. It was very sensual. We started pouring water on each other until the basin was empty. Ray looked magical and he kept his sexy eyes and smile on me, making me yearn for him. We yearned for each other and within no time, we were making love it the bathroom. We didn’t remember to use a condom this time round. It was the first time after the miscarriage that we were having sex without a condom. I could see the satisfaction in his look. I kissed his hard. He kissed back, then carried me to the mattress and made love to me again and again.
• “I hoped for this day, Steph. The day we would look past our loss and pain and let our love drive us once more. I love you. Thank you for tonight” he said, this time not in his seductive torn but a tone which made me believe him. A tone which made me believe in our love and in giving us another chance to be free from fear and pain. I longed for this day too and I was ready to dust myself and soldier on with life.
