Chapter 26

• The chemistry practical examination came. It found me in a nostalgic mood. I had been crying the previous night and the morning before the paper. Some of the students had decided to make life a living hell for me.
• Maybe it was because they had envied me for the many praises rendered upon me earlier. It would have been because they would be compared to me on several occasions. I would always come out as the better one. They now had something better than me. They had not had sex with their teacher and gotten pregnant. They had not lost a pregnancy or had an abortion. I would wish that the earth would break and swallow me, but it would not happen.
• There was no running away. I had disgraced myself.
