Chapter 34

• I rushed back down stairs and cleaned my room and the bathroom. I cleaned the windows and the doors and waited for them to finish taking their breakfast so that I could clear the table and clean the dishes. It seemed like a very easy job. They came down stairs to take their breakfast. I went to their bedroom and cleaned it, the floor, the bathroom, windows and dusted the wardrobe. There was a bucket of dirty clothes in the room. I took the bucket and headed down stairs with it. By now they were almost finishing their breakfast. I requested to be given the keys to my room. They were surprised by my request, but promised to look for them when they come back in the evening. I cleared the table and went to the kitchen to do the dishes.
• All rooms were clean except for the kids’ rooms. They too had not brought their clothes out for cleaning. I had to wait till they wake up. I switched on the television and started watching programs. I would keep looking at my watch, wondering why they slept that much. Finally, they woke up. Cate came and asked for their breakfast. I warmed it and set it in the dining table for them to eat. I went to their rooms to clean and wash the dirty clothes. Jimmy and Caro did not make their bed. They said that it was my responsibility to do so. I changed the beddings and cleaned every part of the room. Jimmy called me and asked me to warm his bath water. I obliged
• and called him when the water was ready. I went to wash their clothes, but even before I finished, he called me to his room. H asked me to iron his clothes. He had just tired a towel around his waist. I took the clothes and wanted to leave to iron them. Before I could leave the room, he had locked the door and removed the towel. He was naked. He said that he wouldn’t let me slip away from him just like that. He had to get me no matter what.
