Chapter 13

• The prefects on duty were supposed to liaise with the entertainment prefect and the teachers on duty to get a movie for the weekend. We were given one by Mr. Ray. After the movie, we returned it to his house, the three of us. Grace and the entertainment prefect said that they would go back to class to study a bit, but I said I would just go to sleep, I was a sleeper. No sooner had they negotiated the corner leading to the classrooms, than I went back to Ray’s place. He had been waiting for me. We lay in bed and talked. We talked about our future and our dreams. Finally we made love and I slept in him arms. I spent the night in his house. I woke up very early the next morning and went to class. Everyone was surprised to see me taking morning preps, especially on a Sunday morning. I would leave the dormitory on Sundays when going for the Sunday service, but here I was already in class, before anyone else. I did not know that I had forgotten my keys in his house. I had to borrow lotion from my friends until he returns my keys. My cube mates were suspicious. They asked me why I had not gone to sleep, but I told them that I slept late after a group discussion with my study group and woken up early to catch up on what I had missed when delivering my duty as a prefect on duty.
• On Monday, I gave the results of the Saturday’s inspection. The cleanest dorm was Mandela dorm, the neatest cube being Cube 2 of Madaraka dorm and the cleanest class being form one G. Ray called me after the assembly and gave me my keys. He said we should meet at the spot he had identified later that night. We did meet there after taking the roll call. We sat at talked and counted the stars. We wanted them to be a witness to our love. We made sweet love and continued staying there. We were sure nobody could come to interrupt us. We sat there until 11.00 p.m and wished each other good night.
• Ray only had two weeks left to be with us. I told him I also needed a break to prepare for the end term examination. The examination started well. He called me and wished me the best and reminded me that I had to reclaim my position in physics. When the results came, I had scored an eighty eight mark in physics, being the overall best. Ray was very impressed. He gave me flowers and a packet of chocolate and told me thanks for not failing him.
