Chapter 55 Fifty Five
- Lilac walked out of the pack house and started to follow the scent of her mate so she could find him... she could feel him a distance away and Lilac stopped in her tracks when she felt something...it was faint, but she still felt it... emotions... she felt his emotion, and she grew in a sharp breath as she stood outside the pack house... her eyes scanning around for where he was... the emotions she felt completely broke her heart, and she had no idea when she started to run towards where he was... Jonathan was seated by the lake, a few stones in his hand, a deep frown on his face as he threw the stones into the water like Alice liked to do... but his mind wasn't really on what he was doing. He had walked away and found himself here... he sighed deeply when he threw another stone, and it skipped perfectly... he was oddly good at it, and should he be excited, but he was the opposite of that. "I should get back," he muttered under his breath... Jonathan threw the last few stones he had in his hand and stood up about to leave, but he turned he was completely taken aback by what he saw..
- Lilac was running towards him... but what made him more concerned was the fact that she had tears in her eyes... he immediately started to run towards her, his heart racing in fear when he got to where she was... "Are you alright!" he asked, but Lilac didn't answer his question. Instead, she wrapped her arms around him and drew him into a warm hug, and Jonathan completely froze... "What's wrong... did something happen?" He asked in a worried voice, and Lilac shook her head... "I felt it," She said in a low, shaky voice. "I felt it," She whispered again, and the tears wouldn't stop escaping her eyes... it took Jonathan a few seconds before he was finally able to decipher what she meant, and his heart completely dropped.... one of the things he feared most and always tried his best to prevent was happening... the last thing he wanted was for her to feel his emotions... he didn't want her to ever go through that... he hated it... he hated it so much that it broke his heart to see tears in her eyes... he couldn't stand to see it... "You shouldn't run. You should be careful and think about the baby..." Jonathan said, trying to stir the conversation towards another direction to get her mind off it. He reached out and wiped away the tears in her eyes, and this only made more tears escape her eyes... "The doctor said you shouldn't strain yourself." He continued and managed to smile warmly at her, and this only broke her heart the more... how could he smile like this when he felt that way... How could he be hurting on his own for so long... why wouldn't he let her in? Lilac wasn't a fool and knew he was trying to stop her from asking questions.
- "Lilac, please look at me",. . he said in a low voice, and Lilac finally turned to look at him. Jonathan reached out and took her hand in his, and led her to the bench close to the lake... he picked up a few stones, and Lilac waited for a while before he was finally ready to talk...
