Chapter 50 Fifty
- "Do you have a dress in mind?" Alice asked, and Joan shook her head. Though she had seemed enthusiastic when she said she wanted to prepare for a wedding, she had no idea what an actual wedding preparation entailed, especially a royal wedding and a mating ceremony, they had to try to find out about it and Alice knew just the person to ask, but she wasn't sure if it was the right time to talk to him. Kace was barely himself now after what happened with Seraphina, and he hardly spoke but mostly looked gaunt... she wanted to use this opportunity to check how he had been fending and maybe lighten up his mood... "Let's go", Alice said, and Joan stood up first to help her get up. They both left and headed to the back of the pack house where Kace's house was... Both women exchanged worried looks before knocking on the door... Thankfully Alice had filled Joan in on everything that took place, so Joan knew what exactly not to say to the gamma...
- They stood there for a few seconds before the door to Kace's house was opened, and his eyes immediately grew wide when he saw Alice and Joan standing in front of his door. "Luna!" he exclaimed, and a worried smile appeared on Alice's face. Kace had dark circles around his eyes and he didn't look like he had been getting much sleep... His hair was completely dishevelled, and his face a bit pale... had he had breakfast yet? Alice wondered how she could not be worried about Kace; he was more than a friend to her. Her ally, who always protected her when Devon was gone... "Can we come in? We have something to ask you?", Alice asked, and he nodded and made way for both women to enter his house... He ran his hand through his hair and sighed deeply because of how bright the sunlight was... Alice's eyes scanned Kace's house as she walked in with Joan, and soon, her eyes travelled to the living room. She was a bit exhausted because of the small walk she had to do from the main pack house... Joan helped her to the living room so she could take a seat because of how flushed her face was. "Thank you,", She said as soon as she took a seat and caught her breath... she knew the baby could come at any time... but was she ready...
- "Would you like something to drink?" Kace, who had walked in behind them, asked, and Alice shook her head. "No, please have a seat" She gestured, and Kace didn't as she asked. He took a seat on the opposite couch to them and Alice sighed deeply. "How are you doing?" She asked, and Kace scratched his head and managed to smile at her. "Fine" he replied simply, even though he was far from fine. Days had passed, but each day simply felt like h*ll for him because he anticipated her showing up at his house or doorstep, and at the same time, he didn't want her to show up. After all, he knew what that would mean... he would have to mark her, and then they would break their mate bond... he didn't want that at all, but he missed her, and he felt like his head was on fire because of her... His wolf wanted to go find her, but Kace was trying his best to tame his wolf to stop it from acting out of place after they had come to an agreement. But these days it was harder for him to focus on anything without her popping up in his mind... she was like a constant plague to him, and a plague that he didn't want to let go of... he couldn't even talk to anyone about it because he didn't want to trouble them with his problems... everything made him angry and irritable...
