Chapter 52 Fifty Two

  • The days went by more quickly than Joan wanted, and it was finally the day for her to follow Liam back to the Palace... all their bags had been packed, and they had breakfast with Devon and Alice like every other day, but this day was different because Joan knew her life was going to completely change the moment she followed him back to the Palace... They were going to have a royal wedding, and everyone in the pack house was already whispering about it. Alice had told her not to think much about it, but how could she not when she heard them gossiping about if she had what it took to rule with Liam... Liam had been the king for many years, but she was different... she was someone who spent most of her time alone unless she was with people she was comfortable around, like Alice and Jonathan. What would she do if she were asked to address the people of the kingdom? What would she say! The thought alone was nerve-wracking...
  • "When are you leaving?" Devon asked Liam as they all sat in his living room, and Liam thought about it for a few seconds before responding... "Soon, we just need to open the portal, and we will be back at the Palace," he responded, and Devon nodded even though he had wanted them both to speak with Lilac before leaving. They hadn't spoken since she stormed out of the house, and no one had reached out to her either...
  • Devon's eyes travelled to the door of the living room when he heard footsteps approaching, and the person who walked in was the person Devon had been thinking about... it was Lilac, and Jonathan was standing behind her... her eyes travelled from Liam down to Devon, and both brothers stood up at the same time. "Can I have a word with the both of you?" She said in a low voice, and they both nodded... Devon turned to look at Alice, who smiled assuringly at him as he walked away with Liam. The three siblings left the room, leaving their mates behind. "How is she?" Joan was the first person to ask. Alice also had the same question, she couldn't help but notice how pale Lilac looked and it also seemed like she had lost a bit of weight but because Jonathan had promised Lilac that he would keep the baby a secret, he couldn't tell them that was because of her morning sickness that was the reason she looked really pale. She found it hard to stomach anything, and Jonathan had to call a healer over to his house to check on her and the baby. They were both fine, and the healer had assured them that she would get past it, but it was hard to watch her puke all day and then get tired and lay down.. it was so unlike her... and when she had told him she wanted to go to Devon pack to speak with her brothers. he had immediately declined, but after much persuasion from her, he finally agreed to take her... he wanted to tell Joan and Alice everything and tell them that he was nervous, but his nervousness was filled with anticipation... he wanted to ask Alice, who she got over her morning sickness... he sighed deeply and took a seat beside Joan... "She hasn't been well, but she is getting better." He told them half the truth and watched as worry etched on both their faces.... how long did she want him to keep it a secre?
