Chapter 13 Thirteen

It was finally time for everyone to return to the city, well, except Liam. Joan, who has agreed to let him stay, wasn't too keen on the idea of being left alone with him now. "I will ask someone to send your things," Devon said to his brother, who nodded as they walked out of the house to where the cars were packed.
His eyes soon fell on a woman who was sitting on her front porch staring at them from afar, but he could see her. She looked curious. nosy neighbours. he wished Joan, who just stopped being stubborn, followed him back to the palace. But he didn't want to force her. This whole arrangement made him nervous. He could see that it also made her nervous. Alice was trying to hold back a smile. She was really satisfied with this arrangement. maybe finally they could be together and her friend would be happy. She just hoped Liam didn't hurt her or he would be getting an earful from her.
She walked towards Joan and gave her a warm hug, and Joan hugged her back, wishing they would all just stay. "I promise to visit often," Alice said, and Joan nodded, feeling all tearful.
