Chapter 24 The Sacrifice

  • Isolde couldn't stay much longer, for her time was nearly up, but before she left, she revealed to her daughter, Elvinia, the emblem of her father, "Look for the Great White Wolf; he has been searching for you for over two hundred years my daughter. Your sword will let him know that you are my daughter, for our paths crossed long enough to create a beautiful warrior like no other. Though it meant my death, you were and are worth it all. So, search for your father and bring back the balance to this realm." Elvinia felt like a bullet that had just been fired seconds after pulling the trigger. She wondered if this was much like the first time she was sent to this realm, for she had been asleep and didn't experience these emotions. She remembered watching cartoons where certain characters moved much faster than the speed of lig, ht. She felt the intensity even as her spirit was thrown back into her body, and with such great power, she emerged from the water, and though she had been clothed before her submerging of her body, her clothes were now tattered and barely clinging on. Arika was waiting for orders while holding new clothing for Elvinia. Arika knew some of what was shown to Elvinia, and she saw the sadness in Elvinia; for now, the Brynhildr also understood what was coming ahead. Though Elvinia didn't want to accept fate's hand, there was a reason why, even if she didn't understand it now.
  • Tonight would be the last night she and Baldr would have, for his fate was coming to a head, and she wasn't wasting another second. She put on the dress that Arika had gotten for her, for she could see in Elvinia's eyes the sadness that she finally understood what was coming. Elvinia didn't look at Arika when she gave the final commanwouldBaudric will not be coming with me. Instead, you two are to get as many people out of here before dawn. I will not be going the same way; there are explosives, so seal the passage once you all have made out of the tunnels. We wait for the Lady of Light to let us know when it is time to come together and finish the work with the stones but not before then."
  • "Yes, milady." Arika and Baudric would be decoys making the enemies believe they had the children when they did not. They would save as many innocent lives as possible, but this Hold would be a gravesite soon. She quickly went to Baudric, for the order had been given they were to await the first explosion. Elvinia walked to where the children were and then kissed each of their foreheads before going to Baldr, who was already sitting on their bed. His eyes; told her they had gotten bad news, and she braced herself for she couldn't reveal that she already knew what was coming.
