Chapter 14 Being Claimed

  • Adalwolf's predatory eyes reflected the man's soul for he knew that Baldr would lose no matter what he chose to do. On one hand, he would lose Elvinia and his unborn child on the other, Adalwolf would kill everyone that Baldr knew and loved, and then Adalwolf would come after Baldr. Adalwolf had one weapon that would take Elvinia down, he had a cousin that was a mage that was an expert in paralyzing her victims not to mention putting her enemies into a deep sleep. He knew that she could portal herself and quickly disarm Elvinia and that would give him the chance to dispatch Baldr, along with whoever else stood between him and his opportunity to gain power. Elvinia finished up her milk and set her cup on the table then looked over at her husband, for it wasn't fair that her husband was put between a rock and a hard place, but what got her, even more, was the fact that this bastard thought he could just claim her like she was property or some kind of trophy. She maintained her temper though she wanted to rip off Adalwolf's head he was expecting Baldr to make the decision or the move. She got up from her seating, Adalwolf thought maybe she was going inside so that she wouldn't hear the decision that was made, but he was caught off guard rather quickly. Grabbing her chair which wasn't light but made of heavy wood and she swung as hard as she could the chair into Adalwolf. Adalwolf crashed against the massive wooden post that was much bigger than redwood oak trees. Baldr and the others went to arms as the soldiers who were Adalwolf's bodyguards were held down, blades pointing down at their necks so if they moved their heads would be removed from their shoulders. Even though Baldr was an alpha male, Elvinia had proven herself to be a very effective leader which was why she was well respected though she didn't assert herself as the leader, she kept silent allowing others to believe that she was merely a soldier. That was Adalwolf's worst mistake not realizing that she was a silent predator and not one to turn her back on. Adalwolf felt the pain that ran through his left shoulder and left rib cage. He knew she had broken some of his bones, and then she knelt and her hand held the shorthand blade, "You have been warned now. You come to my Hold and threatened my husband and think for one moment that I am some woman that is mere to be used as a bargaining chip? You tell me, do you think it is wise to have me as an enemy?"
  • Her eyes were no longer a winter wonderland, her eyes flashed much like an electric blue glowing orb, through her body she felt the surge of energy much like the moment when she went up against the horde of the undead along with the creatures that had been summoned. Though she was able to contain the energy, keeping herself calmed so that she didn't unleash her full potential. She stood up though everyone around her was on guard waiting for orders she motioned her hand and everyone backed up but kept their weapons in hand ready in case someone did something stupid. Adalwolf finally stood up with caution for he had no idea what she could or would do but his men were now standing behind him. They already knew they wouldn't be able to protect him for she had proven that she was a formidable weapon that even Adalwolf had to realize he wouldn't be able to defeat. he said nothing for there was nothing to say and she stood her ground, Baldr on the other hand stepped in front of his wife, "Do not come back here Adalwolf."
  • Adalwolf slowly turned his head towards Baldr, "You, both of you are going to regret this day." He said nothing else for he was licking his wounds, he thought he had everything in his favor only to realize he truly was outmatched. He was going to need to rethink his plan, and he would have to seek out other routes because now his journey to become the King of the North. He would gather up his forces at the Fortress of Storm-Frost Hold, it was there that many of his forces were waiting for orders. Though his father was still Jarl, because of being sickly Adalwolf had been given the stewardship until his father would pass then he would be given the title of being the Jarl. His father had been sick for the last six years, nothing seemed to work and because Adalwolf was the eldest son of four, he was in charge until his father either take his place on the throne or his father be sent to the lands of their people, who had been gone from this realm for many of years. Adalwolf had gained much power since he had been in power, and his father was not getting any better only older and frailer.
