Chapter 47 A Fragile Peace

  • I stood there gazing at Zeus, as the moon was low in the sky and cast a pale light over everything, his chest rose and fell peacefully with sleep. His hardest expression softened now, untroubled by the line of tension that was normally cast across his features like shadow, stealing the brightness of the gaze and jerking it into darkness, there to seethe with malevolent intent. Chaos had worn him out, and he stood before me for the first time since I'd known him looking vulnerable.
  • His wounds were deep and still raw, though not fatal. Blood stained his clothes, and despite his strength, I could see the beginning weariness on him. Knowing that I shouldn't care after everything he had done, yet a small part of me, one I don't fully understand, wanted to help him.
