Chapter 25 A New Beginning

• The Shadow Pack's territory was in no way like the Red Blood Pack's oppressive land. The air was cooler, cleaner and had lofty trees that cast long shadows over the wide terrain. It was as if the earth itself had been designed for those seeking refuge from this horrible world. I walked beside Hades, feeling the serenity of the place settle over me. This could not be home—that was hard to believe, for our home, even if only temporary.
• "You did all of this?" I asked, astonished by the shadowy structure of the main house of the Shadow Pack. Not as big as that of the Red Blood Pack's, it had an air of efficiency and warmth. Everything here seemed to have a purpose and reflected, so I thought, Hades's rule: strong but not harsh.
